Couple of faults/questions
« on: March 19, 2013, 12:38:10 pm »
My MK5 GTi seems to only achieve between 20-30mpg even on a good long run, it may even dip into the teens around town. Is this normal?

Also above 90+mph it just seems to run right out of puff and really confuses me? It's been remapped and exhaust etc but still feels sluggish. Any ideas?

MPG sounds about right for around town driving but it depends on your driving style. WRT running out of steam it might be worth getting your can scanned with VCDS, if you don't have VCDS (costs £200+) you might find a local member who can scan your can for the price of a couple of pints.

I do have VCDS, might have to do some logs on it thought not always 100% sure what I'm looking at. Can anyone advise me what readings I "should" see?

I'm about to do the steeringwheel mod. If the parts wouldn't of been so expensive....

Obviously you are doing those 90mph+ runs on Autobahns and not in the UK  :happy2:
But those MPG figures do sound pretty low unless you are driving the car hard. Have you had your DV replaced, that can affect your MPG a bit.

Let's face it, a LOT of people drive at 90/95 MPH day in day out; commuting speed.

Stage 1 GTI is pretty cr@p at these speeds for MPG, as are most Petrol 240bhp+ motors.

RE: Performance, It could well need a new DV (Rev G)... but it could also be a relative thing, what car did you have before?

Before this I had an 8L Audi S3 with a stage 1 remap and various supporting breathing mods.

I'm very tempted to change diverter valve to the "G" revision. Just wondering where to get one from and what the genuine part number is as I've seen varied results all over the forum  :jumping:

VW call it an over run cut off valve. The part number is 06F 145 710 G.
