Anyone interested in a Dynavin unit review?
« on: March 19, 2013, 01:38:06 pm »
I've just bitten the bullet and bought a Dynavin unit off eBay (£350 new) to replace my old CD based MFD2. I've installed it and am quite pleased with it so if anyone is interested in a mini review or has any questions I would be happy to help  :happy2:

Hey there sorry not looked at the forum for a bit! I'll take a few pictures and will answer any questions you have in the meantime.

The unit does link up with the highline display, but not quite in the way that the stock VW stuff will do. Radio stations have their RDS name on the screen but things like iPod / USB tracknames and navigation will NOT show up on the display. Bluetooth will also show the name / number of the person calling you on the highline display.

Not sure you can keep your stock CD changer, but then again that's not a feature I was after as I don't have many CDs anymore.

Had the unit a couple of weeks now and am very pleased with it. I do miss things like navigation on the highline and it is a little rough around the edges in places but for the money I am very satisfied.

I bought this unit from these guys on eBay...

Hi Neil,

Thanks for your feedback. I'm very tempted to try this unit purely down the cost and the fact I don't have to worry about canbus etc.

What's the sound quality like? Bluetooth clear? Does it work it iPhone 5? Can I plug a USB in?

Sorry for all questions! Good to ask someone who actually has one!

Hi,

Sound quality is good, I'm no audiophile but I've not noticed any difference between that and the MFD2... obvs the Dynavin has outputs for amps and subs so it's probably more versatile.

I have an iPhone4 and it works fine, not sure about the lightening connector but I would assume you would need to purchase some kind of adapter like you would use in those alarm clock dock things.

You can plug a USB in yes, there is 2x USB connectors... 1 for the "nav" side of the unit and one for the "radio" side of the unit (they are seperate circuitry). I have a 2GB memory stick for when I can't be bothered to plug the iPhone in.
