Good evening folks,

I bought myself a MKV Gti yesterday after seeing a few howlers on the way....





Collect it after work tomorrow so looking forward to it.

I owned a MK111 GTI a good number of years ago so I've always been an admirer of Golf GTis.

I'm kind of past the mods stage I'm afraid.....been there and done all that a few years ago..got a family now so the car comes second.
A good detail and a remap will do for me. I get enjoyment out of keeping my cars in OEM+ condition so a wash and clean on a Sunday afternoon keeps me happy

I said exactly the same thing when I bought mine almost a year ago.

Few ££ here and there later and a lot has changed

As far as I can see, there is nothing wrong with the colour. Looks well looked after.

If you stick around you will soon be bankrupt by doing just OEM+ mods!!!

Welcome on board buddy.  I'm like you - just keep mine 100% stock.  A good polish now then then but that's it.  I'm also a bit older then most so the car comes second to all my priorities, however this is an excellent forum and all the guys on here have a wealth of information and knowledge.

Thanks guys. I'm stopping off to see my local detailer on the way home to see if he can add me to his list. Paintwork needs a good going over as it's covered in swirl marks / tiny scratches. I think the rear passenger door has been repaired at some point and looks a bit wavy when you look down the side of the car so hopefully detailer can sort some of it. Other than that I'm really pleased with the car. Wheels need a refurb as well but that can wait a few weeks.

Black cars love em (have had 4) but a mare to keep clean so never again im afraid

Red for ever from now on

I'm from Greenock. I went to see a tornado red GTi down your neck of the woods before I bought the black one. It was a shop owner in Troon who was selling it but it was a mess. Big nasty scuff through to the metal on the front wing, which was rusty and had bubbling paint all the way round the damaged area. Also, most of Troon beach was inside the car.

Some ppl are not worthy of owning a gti imho,granted the sea air would not of helped matters but deep scratch left to bubble not good,gti is nice in black as well but not my first choice,wae to much work to keep minted lol,anyway all the best off luck with your new purchase and most of all enjoy it,as it will bring many a smile to your face even in standard form all the best

Shame - I saw that one advertised.... it looked/sounded really good and a fairly low price - sold before I got across to see it (sounds like it would've been a wasted trip anyway). I've looked at another one that was clean but had pretty poor accident repairs plus bubbling rust starting in a few places. So, still looking!
