Key fob query ?

My friend at work says his wifes spare key now wont unlock the car with the plip part, using the blade he can unlock the car and he can start the car using the blade, but he cant open the doors using the plip (or lock using plip), he has changed the battery and that didnt help ?, anything else to try ?, will the fob need reprogramming after a battery change ? (i heard it can be reset by leaving key in ignition ?

I had this when the battery ran out in one of my keys, just took it down to the dealer and they reprogrammed, they said it was very common when the batteries run out and did it for free as it was still under warranty

Will the key need re-programing every time the battery goes flat then?
If so, thats goina be expensive after warranty!?

Don't confuse synchronising the key with setting the immobiliser.  Sychronising is easy, and you do this after changing the battery or pressing the button too many times away from the car

if that dont work, it will ned re programming. (0.5 at dealer)
