Coolant Temp Sensor Colour
« on: March 23, 2013, 12:26:12 am »
Hi all

I've been searching online for a new sensor, part no 06A919501A.  I've found some no bother but what's the difference between the black one and the grey one?  They seem to have the same part numbers.

The black one is the genuine oem VAG one apparently.

If you look at the link of the previous thread I posted, you will see that the genuine VW sensor that came from my car was grey (2005). I think VW have changed the colour to black now but the main thing is it has two pins and so is NOT the green one with 4 pins.

Thanks, so really it won't matter if I get grey or black. I looked on my car today to see what colour it was and its grey, what confused me was that the parts page/diagram that VW printed for me says black.

I thought maybe the different colours meant slightly different temperature ranges. Or maybe thats thermostats that do that.
