Components
« on: July 24, 2009, 10:01:18 am »
This is one is for all you audiophiles   , was wondering if it would be worth while having 2-ways up front as I dont have the money ATM for 3-ways , or would it be better buying seperate tweeters and mids , and running an active setup  :scared:

Between those two I'd go for the two ways. You'll not see that much difference in sound quality between the two and the two ways would be easier to fit.
Golf R gone.

So run a 2-way and disconnect the OEM 4" , what worries me is the woofer being so far apart from the tweeter that the sound stage will not be that good , i'm going for a decent SQ system atm so there will be no sub in the back yet  :jumpmove:

Usually i'd say yes you could run a 2 way over a 3way  and i'm going to be running a 2 way active in my car but i'm relocating the midbass to the front of the door not the back.. Your more than likley to get massive seperation on the speakers like you suggested with the midbass being right at the back of the door and tweeter up front. and it'd sound pretty poor in my eyes.

What 3 ways are you after mate?

It was 2-ways i was after Luke  :P and was looking at :
Focal Access 165 A1
Hertz Dieci DSK 165
SPL Dynamics SD-6.2

I had the Infinity Reference Series in my saxo and fiesta and tbh i didn't hear much of a difference over co-axials

I did plan on doing some door builds but i'd like to keep the door pockets so i'm kinda limited on what to do with them , and i dont really dig  kick builds so dont fancy going down that route
