Quick question removing the panel round the head unit

OK so as you can see from the picture I have started removing the panel. Where I have added the arrows to the picture it seems this panel is behind/under the head unit panel which leads up onto the dash where there is a air vent. Do I need to remove the air vent first? Not really sure? Help appreciated

Yes you have to remove the vents first to get to the screws holding the tops of that panel in place.

Yes you need to take the air vents out. There are 2 screws where your arrows are pointing.

Start at the top and work your way down.

As above you've got to work from top down.
Just watch out for those air vents. My rh one litterally exploded into its individual bits once the covering trim was prized off. I think it was damaged a bit previously, very fiddly to put back together again as the vents are'nt numbered but top 1 slightly different, must have took me 2 hours

Just watch out for those air vents. My rh one litterally exploded into its individual bits once the covering trim was prized off. I think it was damaged a bit previously, very fiddly to put back together again as the vents are'nt numbered but top 1 slightly different, must have took me 2 hours  

Thanks for the heads up. I went to Home-base today before I started removing the panel round the head unit and bought these below: I guess if I get the plastics round each side I should be able to get it out without any damage hopefully.

Its all plugged in and working. No damage to any panels. The only thing I forgot to put a screw back somewhere but I will put that back when I add in the Bluetooth. The only minor thing was that the FM and AM antennas dont fit on together so I have left the AM off as I hardly ever use it only for 909 once in a while but that's it.

If it's an RNS then without both FM antennas attached you wont have diversity.

For the am and fm connectors you can just unclip the plastic housings and plug the metal ends in to the holes on the back of the unit. They push in tightly so won't come out - had mine like that for over a year with no problems

Yeah do this. I had mine like this for 2 years and they were fine

i found that the £8 ebay adaptor also gave extra aerial length, which was usefull when fitting as the headunit can be sitting ouside and fully tested with aerials in,before pushing all the cables back into the void.
