Please help me protect my paint :)
« on: March 25, 2013, 11:15:26 pm »

Now i know this is going to horrify alot of people here, but here goes...

I live in an apartment complex and unfortunately i have no access to an outside tap therefore my only option to wash the car is either a horrendous garage jet wash or pay for it to be done at my local car wash garage.

Due to the above sometimes my car may only get washed two maybe three times a month. To add to this my car is parked in a dusty underground car park and my commute now involves twisty b roads so the car often gets very dirty.

This is not usually how i would treat my cars but i have limited options available to me.  I just wanted to ask do you guys know of a product that would protect my car well in between washes? ideally something that would be quick to apply in a poorly lit underground car park and would last a number of weeks?   :(

Maybe some sort of liquid wax? But not 100%.

Most people use this in winter as its easy to apply  :happy2:

Then maybe in the summer park it up on a road if possible and give her a treat of polishes and waxes!

Obviously wash it before hand!! When we had the hose pipe water bans we all used pump up pressure bottles or just buckets of water to wash car ;)

You've really got to get the surface back before Polish, Glaze, Wax...  One decent detail could give you a few months protection depending on the mileage.

You can use water buts with pressure washers. :happy2:

Sounds like a decent polish etc would be in order first. But to answer your question, you could probably make do with Chemical Guys no water wash and a quick detailing spray in between a decent detail. Even something like Auto Finesee Tough Coat would be easy enough to apply after the CG no water wash stuff.

Not a wax but it may be some help to you, check out  Nomad pressure washers. They are portable pressure washers.

Hello bud.
At my last two houses I have not had an outside tap and both times lived on the 1st or 2nd floor. I just carried buckets up and down.

You're causing a lot of damage to your paint by using a car wash place, even more using a drive through machine or a jet wash at a petrol station.

Buy some buckets, they are a few quid from Ebay or Halfords. Buy a clay kit and some Collinite476s to use as your wax.
Its one of the most durable (trust me I have tried loads) and very easy to apply. Plus it's a bargin at £12 for a big 220g tub.

Use a quick hand polish like Autoglym SRP or Autofinesse Tripple and top with the wax as mentioned above (collinite)
