teesee's Tornado Red GTI
« on: March 26, 2013, 11:05:11 pm »
I've been meaning to start a build thread for quite a while to document how badly I get the modification bug! So here goes:

I've made some minor mods so far, but hoping to get some major ones done this year cash allowing.

Anyway for starters here is how the car looked at the end of summer 2012 (same pics as new members post).

and a couple of months ago after a good winters night clean!

and a cheeky one of mine and my brothers cars (Unfortunately the garage belongs to a holiday house on the west coast of scotland :sad1:)

I'll post up some of the minor mods I have done so far tomorrow.

Cheers for reading,

Tom

Mini Mods:

1. LED Numberplate bulbs:
Was reading a thread on these and got them from the following link: http://www.hids-direct.co.uk/xtec-c5w-led-error-free-number-plate-bulbs-audi-bmw-mercedes/

Quite cool just 9 small LEDs compared to my 7/8 year old bulbs:

Very straight forward to fit these, just unscrew the bulb holders and swap them over.

Before

Between

After

If you get the bulbs the wrong way round this happens:

Next up was the good old GTI foot rest:

Again an easy install, would recommend removing the whole panel. Theres two screws I think, retaining the plastic and once removed the plastic will slide off.

1.

2.

3. Lined up

4. Red tape is a must for that legit GTI look!

5. Not bad for £20 off ebay

6. Fully installed

Numper plate lights look great (along with the rest of the car)!, did it kick up any dash lights when you fitted them?
