Nice to meet you too Luke and a nice bit of editing there mate, John will be happy..  :happy2:

Rich - Saw your car going up the strip a fair few times. The terminal speeds seemed quite strong given the headwind. What mods have you got again?

Stage 1 REVO + Evoms.

Don't suppose you got any pics?

Unfortunately not mate, sorry.  :sad1:  Only took one vid of Hurdy's car and that was on my phone.

Who's was the Red GTI with the black roof and some sort of launch control (manual car)? That seemed to shift pretty well, but no idea what mods..

Watching all these Golf's flying up the strip today didn't half bring back some memories of running mine...   :sad1:

Did you not run the 135i?

No Sy, not this time mate.. I did think about sticking a couple of VW badges on there and trying to sneak past the organisers, but thought better of it in the end..  :signLOL:

I do want to get the BM down there again soon though.. Feeling a mid 12 @ 112-13mph coming on..

Keep trying mate, you will get there I'm sure. It took me a lot of practice, but paid off in the end with consistant 12.7s once I got my launch sorted..  :happy2:

Is this you by the way?

:star:thanks for that Vid Ben :happy2:

Next time I reckon I'll be on race fuel and race map with the rear seats and passenger seat out. With no running issues would also help :happy2:

I couldn't believe that the 996 Twin turbo S couldn't crack into the 11's, the new RS4 estate couldn't crack into the 12's and just how slow that rusty old beetle was!

Nick, that MKIV was epically fast, what bhp is that monster running?
Golf R gone.

The Red one in the pic above wasn't there yesterday mate. But the Red one in your vid went very well. Not sure on mods, but K04 at least I would guess.

It's not so much the launch itself, it's more about getting the car into 2nd gear as fast as possible I found.  IIRC I would activate the LC, lift off the throttle slightly to enable to revs to drop to just over 2k, then once the brake is released and the car sets off I would apply throttle in 1st and as soon as the car starts to loose grip I would knock it straight into 2nd and power on from there.
A Stage 2+ car has easily enough torque to pull the car from lowish revs in 2nd and it's a lot quicker than trying to tame the wheel spin in 1st gear and wasting valuable time.

If you turn the speakers up on this vid, you can hear me change to second pretty quickly..

If the track is prepped properly, you should not be getting traction issues like that..   Yes you will sometimes get a bit in second, but normally it should be fine.. Try again next time mate.. That vid was on the 21st Jan too, so it was cold and damp which wouldn't of helped. The track in the morning was comical and it wasn't until late in the afternoon that it started to be usable.
Check out our first run of the day..  :signLOL: (and no that's not clutch slip  :surprised:)

They had to close the track for another hour after that run. The wheels would spin up at 40mph in 4th with part throttle it was that bad.. Track prep is key there..

As good as the night event sounds, I wouldn't build your hopes up too much for a PB there mate. I went to one a few years back and as soon as the sun dropped, the track turned in to an ice rink pretty much. May have just been a one off I suppose, but didn't fill me with confidence to do it again.
I would be tempted though if I weren't away on a Stag do..  :sad1:
