Why Would Strut Centre Nut Keep Coming Loose?? HELP
« on: March 31, 2013, 11:50:16 am »
As above I have had new suspension fitted to the car with adjustable top mounts & the centre nut for the strut on the drivers side keeps coming loose!!! Then the whole strut starts knocking. I tightened the nut back up & the banging had stopped so took it 30mins down the motorway to the bodyshop & as soon as I get off the motorway the banging came back again so as soon as I got to the bodyshop had a another looked & the nut had come completely loose again!!

Anyone any ideas why the main strut bolt at the top of the strut would keep coming loose???

Its Airlift performance struts with topmounts, The centre nut that holds the strut on keeps coming loose & that's with a hex nut with another one on top that comes with the kit, The passenger side is fine but the drivers side keeps coming completely loose which makes the whole strut loose

They really shouldn't come loose. Try a little bit of red thread lock on both nuts. Get them nice and tight and leave the thread lock to set before using.
