Stick on wheel weights what can remove the excess

Hi guys,
Has anyone got a solution to removing the old sticky mess from stick on weights off the wheels when new tyres are fitted. Looks grubby when the wheels are cleaned.
Any advice welcomed

i use buff sol or soapy water but you can use spirit wipe but be careful it doesnt dishonour the alloy

Yes but why would you? The entire point is to balance the wheel. It's a bit like pumping up the tyres to the correct pressure and then letting all the air out again.

You can take the weights back of only if you want your steering wheel to shake at 60mph

I think the OP means the remaining residue from where previous balance weights have been
on a side note, my balance weights 'fell off' after being over-zealous with the Tardis
and had to drive to a garage to get them re-balanced.. didn't feel that much vibration to be honest!
