niggles after visit to dealer
« on: April 06, 2013, 11:14:21 am »
I have just had cambelt & waterpump change at vw dealer. Since then the car has had minor niggles.
A parking bulb warning light came on next day, bulb now changed, never had a bulb out warning before.

My rcd510 only comes on really dimmed even tho it is set at brightest level? Last night it came on really bright and then dimmed itself to min as i drove and watched it??  weird or what...

I never use the cruise stalk off switch, but did yesterday, then cruise would'nt come on again no matter what. Until i switched off & restarted, then normal since.
Both cruise and rcd510 where fitted to car as aftermarket.

Do you think the dealer has reset something, that has caused some of these niggles??

Probably not, but please check your battery terminals are bolted up tight.  I've had a battery disconnect on a dual carrigeway (due to work in a garage, they didn't secure it up again)... not an experience I would like to repeat.

Is the battery is low on juice.  When I carried out my ABS pump bleed the other day, it depleted a huge amount of battery and I had all sorts of VCDS faults... from window switches to airbag warnings...  charged it back up, reset the faults and it's been fine since.

ok i'll check the battery out. They reset the service indicator as well.
suppose they might have disconnected the battery when working on the engine? don't garages somtimes plug a 12v battery thingy in the accessory socket when they dis-connect battery so that the ecu stays alive etc?
