Lots of people have their own CCTV cameras on their houses now, Have you considered asking around the area where it happened to see?

Bit of a longshot, but really really feel for you, cant understand some people!

Yeah good idea re: CCTV, I did knock on the nearby houses but no one had seen/heard anything.
I will have another check later for houses with cameras.

There are no police/local authority cameras covering the road I parked in, but know there are cameras in nearby roads.
I'm hoping these may have caught a vehicle limping away from the area.

I found some debris in the road that looks like a grill surround - googled the part number and it links to a Toyota Avensis.
Not much help but am now eagle-eyed for a damaged one of them!

Finally got an update on my car from the repair centre.
Engineer has authorised repair to the damaged corner - this comes in at around £2.5k including a new 18" monza and pirelli p-zero tyre. I've had a bit of hassle regarding the drivers side alloys - they were trying to get out of refurbishing these, but have pushed them and have now agreed to do these 2 plus the other one so they all match! Bonus!
Just hope the quality of their work is good!

Has anyone had dealings with Aviva or Solus repair centres?

I'm having to pay for this myself as there is no trace of the culprit - have exhausted all possible cctv and witness options, all dead ends!

Glad it's al getting sorted for you.

In regard to the repairs, hope they do a good job for you. If your not happy, complain through the insurer and it will be sorted out - I've been in that scenario

Cheers for the replies.
Glad to hear they do good work!

One of my friends is an ex bodyshop/panel sprayer so will take him along to help inspect just to make sure all is as it should be.

They can't give a timeframe for repair as yet - waiting to hear about a suspension spring that is out of stock or something...
How long do these place take to turnaround jobs?

Cheers!

My BMW had more severe damage in the same area, airbags off etc and it was fixed in two weeks.

Gutted for you. My sister was hit at low speed from behind whilst she was stationary. She has now had another dent in her car with no obvious suspect. Some people just don't give a fudge.

I know you can get video cameras to record whilst the ignition is on, but are there any that will detect and record when collision sensors are activated?

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

I was thinking about some sort of video device, might be a little excessive, but will be super cautious parking once I get it back - within cctv view if on street and maybe those massive parent & child bays in supermarkets.

Just can't believe what barstewardss some people can be - I keep thinking I should go searching for a damaged avensis when I get it back, but half of me thinks I should prob just let it go - it could be anywhere, and prob fixed quicker than mine will be haha

Due to get it back next weekend MAYBE as repair place can't give an exact date, grrrrr!
