I hope no thieves read this thread and target people that have said where they hide them,

Surely they would also need to know where you live?

I work nights so theyd have great difficulty taking my car from a car park with security in it and my keys in my pocket. On my nights off the keys hang up in my kitchen, but im in a second floor flat so theyd have difficulty getting them.

It all depends on how much they want it .. if they do they will try and keep trying and wait for the right time.

As for "its insured", yes it is but it doesnt help when you get offered a crap settlement

Security lights, 2 Dogs and a fixed (hidden) lock box for Keys would make life hard for them, add to that a gravel drive so would hear them coming before they got to house anyway!

Shows what a sh*t world we live in having to hide our keys.... I take my keys with me to bed. I also have a very unsociable dog. And if they get past him and wake me up god help them as I will do an American history x film and put there head on kerb lol. If they want car bad enough though they will take them as proven by a few poor people lately on here

In fact insurance isn't too bad, had a quote the same or within a few quid.

That I was surprised about but then it's not like an accident I suppose.

It's threads such as this that, whilst unfortunate for you lot that live with this threat, makes me glad that I live where I do and don't have to worry about it.
The most I have to consider is remembering where I left my keys....

last monday my mate had his house broke into by two men, went straight upstairs to where him, his 8 year old daughter and 6 month pregnant GF were all sleeping and threatened with machete's asking for the car keys (seat leon K1), he threw them out the window for them to get and said they would be back, they his gf wont go back tot he house since and they want to sell it, his car was smashed up a few days later in a car chase.

Another friend woke up to a knife held to him for his tuned focus ST keys, he told them where they were and they ended up leaving with them but dropped them on the drive and left without the car strangely.

Both these incidents happened near Birmingham, to me its not worth it, even if they are empty threats with weapons id rather not find out, they can have it, thats what you have insurance for. Anyone that says they would fight blah blah needs looking at IMO. Especially if you have family/anyone else in the house with you.
