Must be said with most Mk5s coming up on 5-9 years old it would be worthwhile to service the Calipers. Floating single piston Calipers like the GTIs do need maintenance periodically.
slide bushes deteriorate, slide pins get caked in brake dust and seals can get perforated causing sticky pistons.....
Invariably people don't act until there's a problem though....
