Sachs uprated single mass probs?
« on: April 03, 2013, 02:35:09 am »
Just wondering if anybody else has had any probs after fitting a sachs uprated single mass conversion?

To cut a long story short i contacted the VW garage that fitted my clutch after i drove it home from the fitting to say that the gear change was notchy and stiff to clear the gate when changing, they said it would ease off the more it was used and bedded in. I don't use the car very often but my other half does every day and had told me she thought it was fine after a couple of hundred miles had been put on it. The other week i decided to take it for a run and the first thing i noticed was that it was still notchy/sticky going up and down the box so i was due a service and booked it in and also asked them to look at the selector problem. The master tech comes out to tell me that in his opinion my pressure plate is dragging and not releasing as it should when the pedal is pressed and this is what is causing my problem. So off i pop for the 70 mile drive home and decide to give it a bit of beans in 4th on a nice long straight and i start to experience clutch slip aswell. The clutch slip had not been present that i noticed on the drive to the garage as it was given a tickle on a few occasions.

Anybody else had probs with this set up? and does it sound like both probs are connected i.e. pressure plate not releasing/clamping properly.
