Brake Wear indicators
« on: April 03, 2013, 10:51:03 am »
Just changed the brakes on a mates car and the pads that i was given didnt have the sensors in them like the previous ones did. I changed them anyway but the indicator has come on the dash. To get rid of it do i cut the wires and insulate them so they dont touch or do i cut the wires, connect them both up so they make the circuit? Cant remember weather i need to make or break the circuit for the light to go out. thanks

You need to connect both wires together (i.e. short them) or get someone with vcds to code it out.
Without traction power is nothing!

Probably better to code them out with vcds. If you short them and then want to use the indicator in future I suppose you'd have problems.

I cut the wires off the old brake pad, shorted those then connected the attached plug to the indicator socket.
