Just read your thread from the start, lovely build this. And quite amusing at the same time seeing you change direction with it so much!

Best example of just how good Laser Blue can be I've seen

cheers, I have owned the car over 5 years now and fallen in and out of interest with it, so yes its seen quite a lot of directions but getting older now seems to be the most fun variation yet

I know that feeling mate, had my last major build for nearly 7 years, kinda drags you through the mill deciding whether to carry on or get rid.

Not even a year into my GTI and I'm well lubed up on the slippery mod slope... been reading up on haldex and forged internals, and I must stop!

Yh I'm already following u on Instagram mate your ride is truly awesome. The nardo grey cage is stunning and the fact u have done it all urself is truly remarkable

What's your trade ??

ah wicked, I'm still so happy how its turned out, was a little unsure when I started out that it could meet expectations with never building a full cage before just doing a few rear show cages. as for my trade I am a fabricator/mechanic/restorer so I coiuld do anything from a simple service on a car to restoring a citroen hy van to welding up and reparing a horse box. so basically I am pretty versatile

yeah 7 years is way too long, I started a mk1 16vt project in my early 20s and got 3.5 years in and who knows how many thousands and had a pile of parts to show so lost interest, find it easier to concentrate on doing one aspect of the car and keeps the car off the road for shorter periods

Not cheap to do a 16vt though. Considered it for my ACE engine Audi Coupe, then changed my mind to do a 20vt swap, then figured it'd take the same money again to get the brakes and chassis up to scratch for that power, then decided it wasn't worth it.

I like the fact the mk5 is quite nippy with just a remap and the rest of the car handles it. Unless you cook the brakes! (TTRS fronts are priorty...)
