Looks great Jay. I like getting jobs like that done. On my list to do.

I see you have some 20mm rear H&R spacers. Thinking of getting some for my Monzas, with the being 7.5, ET51 think would stick out to far? Or be ok? You running any spacers on the front?

Cheers Si

On the rear you will be fine.
On the front I would put a 10mm spacer on. I have no spacers on the front of mine bud.

A bit of bad news, I've just had an email from DsD who say the gearbox they've split has a damaged bell housing. They said I can use my existing bell-housing but I'm not sure what's involved in swapping the bell housing, or whether it can be welded as a repair.

I have gone back to them with some queries and hopefully will hear more today.

 :sad1: :sad1: :sad1: :sad1: :sad1: :sad1:

Just checked my gearbox and the bell housing is the part that has a hole in it.. so I can't even take my current bell housing off to use on the Touran replacement box.

I've emailed DsD, discussing a 2.0 - 6 speed swap but it's whether they can get the parts and for the cost I can afford.

I've priced it up on Ebay and it's around £650 with a (that's gearbox, starters, both driveshafts and a used DMF/Clutch kit).. A suitable clutch and single mass flywheel for my power is £925 + vat

I wouldn't do it now myself without having enough to throw at it incase bits don't fit, I can't go for another month without my car. I'd rather get the car up and running again with a 5 speed box and buy the 6 speed bits over a couple of months.

We'll see what happens over the next few days.

New plan.

Spoke to Darkside. We talked about a plan over the next month or two. They really are top lads. - For now they are going to refund my deposit (they offered that straight away all credit to them) and I will just get another 5 speed box to roll around in.

I could afford to do a 2.0 TDI box transplant but it would be with a clutch that's incapable of dealing with 365lb ft of torque, which is almost just as bad as the current box.

Over the next 4-5 months, I will just have to be careful doing heavy launches and I will be upgrading to a 2.0 TDI box with LSD, buying bits and pieces here and there.

Touch wood will be back on the road next week

Thanks pal glad you enjoyed it. Yeah get a thread up I would like to take a look
It's worth breaking the 200bhp barrier definately, on a stock car Darkside would do it for around £2000+clutch+injectors, so to double your stock BHP it's not really that much in terms of £s per horsepower.. you could do it for less but it would be awkward in terms of finding parts, fitting them etc.

Yeah I am quite OCD haha  :surprised:

Something I kept quiet because I was embarrassed, when I detailed the car and was putting the wheels on I had the door open and as I'm an idiot I caught the door with the torque wrench and gashed the lower sectioni about an inch and a half long.

I wasn't too annoyed as I knew I would just get it repaired professionally, but my buddy Stuart let me use his touch up kit and this is the result.

Before

After

I will still have it professionally done but for now at least it's presentable.

Wow! You've done some amount to this car. Credit to u for it.

Don't mean to pick but is that rust on ur sills where the wings meets? Might be worth trying to get it done under warranty from vw.
