Is it the little vw touch up kit? Iv got some stone chips to sort out on mine, any tips?
No mate it was a halfords one.. I had ordered the VW one but my buddy had the Halfords one in the car. I'll try the VW one as well and then give it to my friend.
Different people have different ways of doing it..
For me I took a piece of kitchen towel, and applied very thinly using the brush in the kit, which was actually very good.. very very thin at the end.
I'd then wipe it off with the kitchen towel.. and repeat.. and repeat.. It sort of seems odd but you want to basically bring the touch up out to as even as possible with the existing surface on a microscopic level.
And then of course with the lacquer. Same process again, I found the laquer was better to use as the colour match was not perfect from the touch up kit..
It's better to put too little on than too much. Don't forget if you do apply too much can use a wet fingernail to scrape the paint/laquer off the surface before it sets.. might want to keep a clar bar handy as well.
Wow! You've done some amount to this car. Credit to u for it.
Don't mean to pick but is that rust on ur sills where the wings meets? Might be worth trying to get it done under warranty from vw.
Thank you buddy much appreciated.
And yes it is, when I had the wing repaired I brought it up but was told as it's not from the "inside out" (I did argue but they weren't having any of it) it wasn't covered... I'm lucky I had the wing done!!
I'm considering having it sorted properly, just a bit awkward as the door and wing would need to come off to do it properly. Might just blow over it myself with a rattle can.
