For those who have fitted a rear view camera
« on: April 03, 2013, 06:59:59 pm »
Just wondering who on here has fitted their own RVC? I have just bought one and wondering if there is anyone localish (Derby) who has experience in doing this. I have read the guides on here and on my-gti but not sure I want to go it alone. So looking for someone who can fit or who can advise really.

Thanks in advance.

Matt

Helped a mate fit a OEM one in a b6 passat estate and it was a right pain in the arse, not a job to be done alone, hope you find someone to help you.

it is fairly easy, wiring depends on the kit you have

i made a plug and play on mine, apart from the 12v from the fuse box

other require joing into the reverse light wire

Matt,

Go for it mate, if i can do it anyone can  :signLOL:

Just take your time, give yourself a full day and away you go.

SteveP's guide is excellent, i also used this aswell as it has different detail at different points

I also recommend this guide as well as SteveP's guide. The above guide makes it much easier to understand the rear c pillar trim removal, which otherwise can be tricky because VW have hidden a couple of the fixing screws in places you would never look without this guide.

Thanks for the reassurance and the extra guide. I hadn't seen that one before. Hopefully should be ok if I take my time.

Luka, cheers mate. I might drop you a message when I get some spare time to fit it  :happy2:
