Rear spoiler options...
« on: April 03, 2013, 09:16:53 pm »
My second effort to assertain details about this, Just wondering what the various rear boot spoiler options were on the mk5 platform, if any? Were there many differing options?

Thanks all :)

Not sure about different options.

If your going for a new/different one, some peeps go for the Votex (read OEM) one, used to be an accessory on VW's site under the Mk5 section but no longer. Part number is 1K0 071 640 K 9AX.

Also OSIR do one in C/F....

Grrr. It's fibreglass. I'm also looking, but would rather abs plastic.

So this would confirm that they are different...

Also, why would it being fibreglass make any odds?

cheers

I find fibre glass a lot more delicate and more prone to warping. I generally find the ones in abs plastic are generally moulded a lot better and hardly require modification to fit.

Yea good point I hadnt considered it warping, Wouldnt be so worried about it being less fragile as other pieces as its out the way, I'd stay well away from bumpers etc in fibreglass.

Bet that OSiR one is bills!!!

IIRC the Votex one simply fits over your GT spoiler, that simple. Someone will be along to confirm or correct me, I'm sure. If you decide on the OSIR, speak to the peeps at the TTShop.com as they are the Europeon distributor for OSIR products.
