BBS RS Replica Tyres
« on: April 04, 2013, 08:23:15 pm »
Hey everyone.

I just took delivery of my new BBS RS Reps today and done a trial fit of one wheel on the front to make sure they are okay for when my coilovees get fitted. They have come with 225/45 tyres on them but the tyres seem to pop out from the arch a few mm which will make a proper mess of ny arches im reckoning.

Ive done a search on here and on google but cant see to much tyre info. Does anyone know whats the best tyres to get on these in order to get rear arches over the tyre when lowered? Thy are 8.5 on all corners.

Thanks

I'd look at 215/40 or 205/40s.  I've got both on my 18"x8.5"s...215 is barely any stretch (but keeps a fairly stock rolling radius), 205s look better but seem to be a bit harder to get hold of (and more expensive)

Excellent. Ill have to call the supplier tomorrow then and get them to send on the correct tyres. Ill pitch for some 205/40s to start with. Is the ET of ur 18s ET35 aswell?

I had ET45 on the Passat, but with 20mm spacers at the back it looked like this:

Not tried them on my Jetta yet (need a new tyres and a refurb), but probably going to go for similar offset.

Im now starting to think they have sent the wrong one as mk5's are meant to be Et43 (I think) and these seem to be ET35 so not alot of room to play with.

They are not the right fitment. You should easily be able to run 8.5 with 225 40 18 if ET45. ET35 is definitely wrong.

You can fit them if you do the arch screw mod and run 205 tyres but yes, it's going to be very close. Ideally you'd want arches rolled for that.

Yeh the arch mod is getting done when the coilovers get fitted, fingers crossed they arrive today. Spoke to the wheel place today and they said there is a colour coded spacer on the wheel which actually looks like it is part of the wheel. Turns out i didnt see that. Wheel now tucks into the arch nicely. fingers crossed when the car is lowered it doesnt have any issues. Rolled wheel arches could be in the plan aswell but not sure how that would look tbh.

Thanks for your help guys

How on earth is he running 10.5 on the front?

Air ride and pulled / rolled arches for sure?

The colour coded spacer doesn't sound too clever. Have you got any pics.

The closest rim I've seen that works is probably a Bentley one at 9j and Et41. That sits flush at the front.

This looks silly. Stretch, poke , arch work and lots of camber. Oh and 17's too.
