MOT Question
« on: July 26, 2009, 08:33:31 pm »
So as my MOT is due in a month or two..

but i have my windows tinted.. and ill be honest. My front windows, well, they are over tinted. I have the legal level of tint on the back  in the front windows.

So will my car fail its mot for this.. or do they even check the level of window tinting?

if my car can fail on my sun strip being to long/depth, im sure window tints count too...

mot is all about being legal, so i guess anything illegal will fail it..

im not 100% sure though, i know it has been talked about including it, but...  :chicken:

Just run legal tints in the first place? I would love deep tints but the hassle just isn't worth it for me

I run an MOT tsting station, and no, overtinted side windows are not part of the test, whereas the windscreen and 'larger than life' sunstrips are.  That is not to say the police can't pull you and demand you put it back to standard.

And, as othere have said, just run legal windows!

most new cars come with the windows lightly tinted anyways (probs to a % that u cant see), so once you start adding tint too it, even the lightest, youll be illegal.. so just be carefull.
window needs to let through 70% light.
