Brierley Hill - anyone nearby
« on: April 05, 2013, 09:35:38 pm »
Hi all, seen a low priced GTI in Brierley Hill. Suspect it's hiding something, but just wondered whether anyone was nearby and could have a look? PM me if you can help!

Just sent you it - assume you're local? Pics look like it has a non-GTI tailgate, and back bumper in a slightky different shade...so only worth anyone's time if you're very close!

It's not that it's missing an 'i', it's that the tailgate is off a GT.....it shouldnt have the Golf script at all, the GTI should be on the other side, and it should have a high level spoiler. I suspect it's therefore cheap for a reason - but I may as well give them a call anyway just to see!

Well......called them up - she didnt sound like a car trader, or someone that knew very much at all. However, she said that they'd taken it in p/ex 8 weeks ago. I called my local VW dealer and they checked their records for it.........last seen in March 2011 at, wait for it, 156,000 miles!

Now being sold at 80k miles - I suppose it at least shows that these cars are good for high mileage!

Tell the Police it's fraud right there with proof from VW.

As far as I'm aware it's only fraud if she knows and doesn't declare it when asked (she probably does know, but no proof).

Be interesting to see whether the service history has been doctored and under who's ownership any receipts, MOT etc.... Hate to think someone else will get defrauded by this.

She said it had no service history. MOT certs now show previous mileages though.

VW said it was first serviced by them at 104k miles when it was 2 years old, was serviced once more at 124k and then was back in for something a couple of years ago at 156k.

Probably more like a 200k car then
I know it's unfair if she doesn't know anything about it, but this is why you should do your homework like you did... She shouldn't be allowed to sell it as is... Hate to think what the follower is like... engine is probably not long for this world.
