Unplugging the seat occupancy
« on: April 05, 2013, 10:13:06 pm »
If I unplugged the black seat occupancy plug under the chair, will it cause any problems? This 'bing bing bing' every single time is really annoying, especially as I always wear my seat belt.

The seat belt chime can be coded out with VCDS.

I know that, but I don't have any friends that live close by with it... Unplugging the plug would be quicker

I'm pretty sure you can unplug it and it will not chime, but as long as you don't disconnect the airbag you shouldn't get any warning lights.

If you unplug the occupancy sensor, would the airbag still go off if in an accident?

There are several plugs, one is the warning for the seatbelt being plugged in, one is a sensor for the weight and one is obviously the air bag.. Although I do not know if you unplug them, whether it would or would not go off.
I would have to assume it would.. but yes, VCDS is the best way.

I have the same issue, only 2 looms under my chair though, a 2 wire and a 3 wire - which I'm fairly sure is the airbag? What was your solution?

3 wire yellow is airbag,  2 wire black is seat occupancy sensor.   Best way is to code it out using vcds

Cheers, I don't have VAGCOM or know anyone in my area with it, I'm going to try to unplug the 2 wire loom and see if
That solves it, I'll post my results tomoz

Shame, too far from me mate. I've got VCDS and could have helped ya out. I'm up in North Yorkshire
