Toyota GT86
« on: April 06, 2013, 05:44:03 pm »
After four and a quarter happy years with my Scirocco I decided the time was right for a change. The GT86 caught my eye and I was offered a very good p/x and then very good deal so I went for it.

Picked it up a week ago - couple of not great pics below but hoping to get some better ones once Russ at Midlands Car Care has had it:-

It was from Wolves Toyota yes.

Getting another set of wheels as I like to run a winter and summer set. Possibly lowered after that but quite enjoying it stock at the moment to be honest.

Very nice mate!!  :happy2:

Thanks!  :happy2:

They are nice but a supercharger to take it to around 240-250 makes it so, so much better.

I saw one in a deep pearlesecent grey the other day, it was lowered on some Rota's or some other sort of JAP wheel.. looked pretty funky.

I like an awful lot about these cars, but they do need some FI - especially after a Stage 2 TFSI.

A scathingly brilliant purchase.

Forget about more power, those that "get" these cars know it doesn't need it.  :happy2:

I get it, it's about the driving pleasure, for which it delivers, but when a Corsa is faster than you in a straight line, something needs to be done

Obviously I've only had it for a week so still running it in and keeping below 4k rpm but it hasn't struck me that it needs more power - it's just not that sort of car when you're driving it. Seems to make even the most mundane journey induce a big grin!

However, I have seen some turbo'd americans ones pushing out about 450hp which must be immense. Although I wonder if as much fun?

I "get" the car Mike and for those who like their tail end loose it is full of win.  :happy2:

Personally I'd like it more with FI more power and better traction around corners and in the wet and in the cold and in the snow and ice

Only a Vxr would be which is turbo. Although, I do agree, turbo would make what sounds like a good car great.
