I love these, look cool inside and out, comfy and a great driving position. Havent driven one but i hear its pretty much the most fun you can have on four wheels. Looking forward to seeing where you go with this

I don't get why they couldn't have made it the most fun and fast though? Without a doubt  they will release faster ones, a STI version of the BRX has been announced and there is loads of turbo kits available also. But to be fair they do already look fast!

Get some rota grids on her, lowered and she'll be looking purdy!
 :popcornsoda:

Think I've got my wheel plans sorted - want to keep it lightweight and I've found some with a slightly lower offset in the stock size which come in at 6.75kg each.

Lowering I'm looking into but I don't want to ruin the fantastic set up so this is going to require careful research.

In terms of speed, a number of the US magazines have timed stock ones to 60 in around 6.2 seconds so they're not exactly slow - what I think a lot of us miss is the big chunk of torque we've got used to from diesels or charged engines.

I love the look of these cars and have done some research. I would have bought one, but the power... not matter how FUN it is, is just too low.
They look great in the flesh..

If they release a faster model with a slightly better interior then it could be a real contender.. or even if they release any good turbo\SC kits.. but that will rack the price up too much im sure..

SOLD!! :(

Supposed to be a great drivers car these and there are not too many manufacturers making those types of car these days!

Really like these alot, Front engined, Rear wheel drive, N/A, Totally usable without going bonkers.

I have owned two Honda Integra Type R's and loved them both very much, So much fun. I can imagine your GT86 is also.

Hope it treats you well  :happy2:

I get the fun factor I really do, but for an everyday car I'd prefer lots of torque, grip and go.

It's a fair point. The '86 definitely requires a lot more 'driving' and care than my scirocco did.

Haven't been on the forum for a while and know a few people were interested so thought I'd give a few updates.

Settled on my wheels. I went for these:-

They are stock size (17x7") but 8mm lower offset and a useful 2kg a wheel lighter. I kept the stock tyres as wanted to keep the cars character close to stock (for now).

Picture just after they were fitted below:-

I realise they wont be to most people's taste as due to the design with the spokes not running to the edge of the wheel they look smaller than 17's.

Next up was sorting the exhaust and a drop in air filter. I went with a Cobra cat-back non-resonated system as part of a group by on the owners forum. It may be a bit loud for my tastes though so I'm considering having the resonated section fitted. Leaving it for a while though to settle down and then I'll decide. For the air filter I went with a HKS panel filter.

Pics below (excuse the state of the car though!):-
