Things to change: DV, PCV, Cam Follower etc
« on: April 07, 2013, 10:20:26 am »
Hi guys,

I'm looking for some information regarding the things that may need replacing as a matter of course on the GTI.

The car is due a service and I want the car running as good as it can really.

So far my list includes:

Diverter Valve - 06F145710G roughly £30?
PCV - did the "idle and remove the oil filler cap" check, car ran rough so should be ok?
Cam follower - what's involved in this, ie Pricing, parts numbers etc?

Anything else I have missed from the list?

Thanks guys.

Replace the DV, if there is oil anywhere in the DV then the PCV needs replacing. Cam follower seems fairly easy, and there are tutorials all over the place for those. The DV is about £38 with VAT.

You will almost always get some oil on your DV as the turbo seals will let a little bit through  :sad1:

So an oily DV doesn't necessarily mean the PCV valve is shot?

I guess not, but for £30 and 10 mins labour, why the hell not do it anyway?
