RNS 510 Ver B to Ver H
« on: April 08, 2013, 08:21:19 am »
Since my car was broken into and my RNS version B was stolen I have purchased a Ver H to replace it, is there anything I need to do before I put it in or is it a straight swap? I never had any battery drain issues with the Ver B but it had an early version of FW on and when I went to 2760 I installed the modified version just incase. The H is running standard 4120 so I'm slightly concerned about the possibility of battery drain. My car is a early MY07 so could just be on the verge of the canbus upgrade.

Anyone close by can do a scan with VCDS?

Only way you're going to find out for sure which revision gateway you have  :happy2:

I will give you a tip for a quick fix this is what I used to do on my vw golf 06 plate.First of all lock car up with your remote then come back to it after about 30 mins.Normaly after 30 mins the car sends a signal from the canbus to the stereo to kill the power, you will know if this as happened because when you turn the stereo on you will be met by the Volkswagen screen. If it justs powers on as normal it wasn't powered down and your battery will run flat. I used to take the fuse out for the stereo which is a small 15 amp fuse located in the fusebox under the bonnet.Taking the fuse out  is an easy fix and just used to do it when parking car up for the night or any length of time.

Or install a modified firmware like 3810.

I can send one out to you.
