« on: April 14, 2013, 07:38:23 am »
Hi I'm having big issues with passenger rear door lock sticking so need to change module before it sticks shut for good , so can't decide if I should buy new £92+vat from tps or new ebay copy £50 or third option is ive found a car same year as mine being broken and could get from there but is it worth buying used ???? Also does anyone have a guide to changing rear door lock module ? Is there anything I should be carefull of ? Thanks for any help

There's an entire walkthrough guide on changing the door lock. As for cheapo copy, depends on whether you're happy to take the risk. I've had two different door lock modules go on my car and I've bought OEM each time.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

If the part from the breaker is cheap id go down that route, you would be unlucky to have the same problem twice.

I have changed two, 1 on my car 1 on the wifes. Both from ebay, both from poland. Never had any issues with them and much cheaper then dealers

But its your choice :)

Buy a new genuine one from the dealers mate  :happy2: i had the same problem started to play up so replaced it with a cheapy one of ebay then 2months later the lock stopped working all together and the door stuck shut! Then it took me 4 frustrating hours to get the door open then in the end put a genuine 1 back in! Not worth saving £40 i learnt the hard way
