i drive a 08 MK5 GTi DSG
i recently took it in for full timing service with all original oem vw parts .
before the service was done ,the car was silent with only the pcv valve making that ticking sound.
upon completing the timing service , started the car up and there was this nasty vrrrrrrhhooom sound .
the mechanic and i did not like it , so he loosened up everything and adjusted the tensioner a bit and closed up .
but still the sound was there .
the timing was set to the correct mark .
noise was still there , so i decided to buy new(timing tensioner plus the two rollers ) opened up everything and replaced them ,but yet again the noise was there .
the car is running Strong ,without any doubt .im just annoid by the nasty sound .
and i would like to delete the sound. asap .
i would like to attempt to try and sort it out via diy before taking it to the dealers.
i hope my point is clear , im new to this , also im no engine genius .
