Arai GP5K or Stilo ST Quattro GT.. Both nice and light and have good aperture for closed top cars..

So,

Let's say I was going to Spa for a full day's trackday :innocent:

Would I need an FIA approved binlid or just one that is Snell SA2000 rated?

Dont think they need to be Snell for track days, any old thing seems to be acceptable..

....

Methinks that a lid with one of these ECE stickers would suffice in Europe, Hurdy  : -

Here's one of the helmets I was considering.

....Ooooooh! :notworthy: I like that! Makes me wish I didn't already have a lid.

It would go well with my other carbonfibre goodies.

You can pick up Arai's cheap from the states thru ebay - look for seller flyin brian all the lates lids and does deals for multiple lids although they dont come with the BSA kite mark as they are U.S which some tracks look for(espec bike ones cars dont bother to much as long as they are in good nick)
Arai's are dear but worth the money althought they dont fit everyones napper perfect. If  you own one pop along to a mojor bike race and look for their support van they will do a free service/checks on it and will swap parts on it normally free.I own one Arai astro, 2 Shark RSF's and another matt black cheapo for trackdays.

Each manufacturer generally has a head measurement in cm on the helmet to give the circumference of your forehead for fitting as well as a S/M/L/XL size tag. This is only a guidance and I can honestly say that unless you try them on you won't know what suits you. Some people like a very tight fitting helmet, others like a slightly looser fitting.

different manufacturers helmets are different shapes as well, a 56 in 1 will not be the same as another manufacturer. You will also find that the shape of some manufacturers helemts suit the shape of your head and some don't. You do really need to try them on :happy2:
