clutch pedal stuck to floor.........

My wife was out in the car, pressed the clutch and it stuck on the floor. I got her to pull it up with her foot then it never faltered for 2 miles home through the town centre. Any ideas, should i be concerned or is it a one off do you think ?

New slave cylinder required probs.

Get your head in the footwell and see if the slave cylinder rod with the ball end on it and broken through the front of the pedal. My old mk4 did this. There is a spot weld that breaks on the pedal itself.

Only on mk4's that fault.  Mk5 is a different setup.

Have a look under the car and see if there are any drips of fluid around the bottom of the gearbox.

As said the clutch pedal mount is a Mk4 problem, not a Mk5.
Going to likely air in the system, I would suggest as above - inspecting the hydraulic circuit, if no leaks are found I would suggest bleeding through new fluid and ensuring there is no air in the system.
It could be there was a small bubble which at that specific time caused a problem.

Hear it happening loads when mates change out slave cylinders, bleed it through, works all good, drive down the road and end up with clutch pedal on the floor, a quick re-bleed sorts it.

Happened to me just after i got mine,turned out to be the master cylinder at the back of the pedal. Luckily was still under warranty.

Did you have any fluid in the footwell when the master cylinder went ?

Noticed clutch fluid on the bell housing under the car, looks like its the slave cylinder then !

It's like £40 for a genuine one and 30 minutes to fit and bleed it if everything goes right.

I though it was a 'box out job ?
It's under warranty (luckily!) so fingers crossed it's all ok.
If the 'box comes out I'll get them to check the clutch plate as well.

Well, I should have said, on the 5 speed cars (IE Mine) its £40 and half an hour. I do not know if it's more on a 6 speed.
