JregGT New to MK5 ownership
« on: April 12, 2013, 05:52:47 pm »
Afternoon folks, i'll keep it reasonably brief. I've just purchased a Shadow blue 06 GTI with just under 80k on it, and I absolutely love it! (even my fiance, who currently has a lupo which is going to have to make way for her to use in the week can't get enough of it!)
After borrowing my dads (08 GTI) for a few holidays down south, it was the only choice for my next car after falling in love with his! I come from much older VW's so please forgive my ignorance/stupidity if I ask a few silly questions in other areas! I drive a van day in day out for work, but have owned a 91 Polo Coupe since passing my test 8 years ago, which has slowly changed (mainly engines as I have got older and able to insure more powerful engines!) And have always had a MK1 GTI 'project'!!

Looking forward to getting stuck into the MK5 world, service is first on the list, then a decent detail and enjoy it.

Cheers Rich  :happy2:

Cheers for the welcome.

Fingers crossed a link to the Polo will appear with this post, I hope it is ok to do it this way, but alot of my pictures aren't with me as we have just bought our first house and I can barely find my socks at the minute let alone a memory stick form my old computer at home! So unfortunately no pictures of the MK1 either!

Hopefully now some pictures from the forsale ad for the MK5 will appear under this. I am going to try and get a few bits on it sorted and get some 'good' pictures taken to put up with a decent write up of its spec etc.

Cheers folks, don't think I will every loose my love for my old Polo, but I must admit, having the golf is not inspiring me to swap the gearbox in the G40 in a hurry!! Everything just seems so effortless to do in it! It is a real pleasure to drive! Do thin it needs 18" Monzas though!

Cheers Fellas,
As soon as I saw the 'last post' G40Will, I thought i know that username! You still have a G40? Really pleased with it, gave it a good clean sunday, with the intention of taking some pictures! But on a short drive to find somewhere for pictures, I just did the driving!

Cheers guys  :happy2:

Nah, G smiles are long gone for me mate, my last G40 made way for a mk4 golf tdi about 5 years ago now. I do miss it though.

Where are you from?

I'm from birmingham, but nobody hold that against me please!
It would take an awful lot to make me get rid of the G40. The golf is simply better in nearly everyway! But I have had the polo for years now and just don't think it will ever make way! If your local (or ever in the area) you will be welcome to an outing to relive the 'G smiles'

Cheers folks Rich  :happy2:

I wish I was mate but I'm down south, I know a few g40 owners down here though so maybe I'll blag a ride one day with them.
