Stick on wheel weights what can remove the excess
« on: March 31, 2013, 03:50:36 pm »
Hi guys,

Has anyone got a solution to removing the old sticky mess from stick on weights off the wheels when new tyres are fitted. Looks grubby when the wheels are cleaned.

Any advice welcomed

autosmart tardis. It's what I used on my car.

silly question, but can the weights be removed after the wheel has been fitted?  :sleepy: :embarrassed:

Yes but why would you? The entire point is to balance the wheel. It's a bit like pumping up the tyres to the correct pressure and then letting all the air out again.

You can take the weights back of only if you want your steering wheel to shake at 60mph

I think the OP means the remaining residue from where previous balance weights have been  :happy2: on a side note, my balance weights 'fell off' after being over-zealous with the Tardis  and had to drive to a garage to get them re-balanced.. didn't feel that much vibration to be honest!
