Mapping the 2.0tdi 170?
« on: April 15, 2013, 07:20:40 am »
What's the beef with this then is it OK or are there serious issues with it? I've read a few places now that a few tuners and even Revo are considering pulling maps for this engine because of issues and I've noticed a couple of places that no longer seem to offer upgrades for it?

I'm looking at the possibility of either a A4 avant S Line, Octavia Vrs or Leon Fr later on in the year so was wondering what the tuneability is on them now.

Anyone have experiences good or bad with the above cars being mapped?

I have my golf 170 remapped. Had a shark map and dpf delete done at ap automotive. No problems at all as shark have got it right. I managed to get over 200bhp (see below my sig). Would  recommend again and again.

Any changes in mpg? and how many miles had your car done when you had it mapped?

Mine is currently running Shark Stage 2. Had the DPF removed at the same time and also EGR delete. This weekend Alex at AKS fitted a Darkside DPF delete pipe and full Milltek. Its it definitely a lot more responsive. MPG I would say is around the same. Computer says its worse but I still get the same or a few more miles to the same amount of fuel. These engines were never the most economical though. I would say I have done around 12-13k with the map and still enjoy it.

One thing I would say is learn to embrace the smoke  :happy2:
