Day trip to France... Where to go and what to do?
« on: April 11, 2013, 11:19:23 am »
Ive just booked the train for a day trip to France! Going with a mate and the girlfriends!

We are there for the whole day, planning on visiting one of the main hypermarkets and a couple of places for beer etc but can anyone recommend anywhere to visit or things to do?

Thanks in advance!

probably not that cheap now

been a few years since I went there

several well known outlets sell booze in Calais.

I always went to Auchan

Amiens is a nice place for a day. The coast isn't brilliant until you hit the Cherbourg peninsula.
Sideways yo!

Always found it cheaper the further inland you go, my mates picked up some merlot at 1.5 euro a bottle and said it tasted the same as a bottle from sainsburys costing £7, don't drink the stuff myself tho.

As mentioned, Cite d'Europe is worth a visit.  It's an outlet place with a large Carrefour hypermarket perfect for cheap wine etc.  It's a few years since I went but there was also an Oakley outlet if you're after some new shades.

I had a camping holiday in France last September and the intention was to visit Cite d'Europe before catching the ferry back but we didn't leave enough time :ashamed:

We're going back this year but not getting a Calais ferry this time so won't be able to go, but intend on stocking up at another hypermarket :popcornsoda:
