Gti exhaust fit onto a gttdi?
« on: April 15, 2013, 01:19:08 am »
Ok I have a mk5 golf gt tdi 140 so it has the exhaust behind the bumper. I want to change the back bumper to a gti one so I would have to upgrade the exhaust. Could I use a gti exhaust ? And if yes would I just need a cat back ?

Thanks

Yes you can use a GTI or Ed30 exhaust, just need the back box. I did this on my GT, makes the rear end look miles better. :happy2:

I've also done it.

Chopped the pipe about 1ft from the backbox on the 45degree angle and got a sleeve made up for £11 on ebay.

Big improvement to the back end appearance!
Used to have Edition 30 - number 009 and a GT TDI 140.
Now have an S4 B8 Avant (stage 2)

i can see that you get a full cat back exhast for gti. Would that gti cat back exhaust fit straight on or would i have to chop and change ?

It would make absolutely no difference to sound.

Go to a local exhaust Fabrication shop and you can have one made up for like £150, this can either have a backbox to keep noise down or a straight through. I'd go for straight through as it's never noisy inside.

The GTI tips are far too small IMO you need at least twin 3" pipes.
