REVO or APR ?

I'm selling my car, but good news is, i'll be getting a GTi 


I'll be looking to remap the car first, but which remap should i go for ?


I've got confused a bit... can you still have a Stage 2 remap, but without having to get all the other stuff such as a Turbo back exhaust  etc...


All i'm looking for is the best remap which JUST changes the ECU. Hope that makes sense lol.


I see APR has more torque than the REVO map.

Where does it say that the APR has more torque?

On average REVO maps achieve more power I think. There was a discussion about it a couple of weeks ago, comparing all of the maps, and their respective power/torque outputs.

you can stright to stage 2+ without an exhaust or intake, you just have to get a uprated high pressure fuel pump that will probably give you the most bang for your buck. surprised that not many ko3 gti's have done this yet..

exhaust and intake will further improve things

anyhow how come the insurance works out cheaper on a remapped gti than a soot chucker

This is all a big surprise, Rich - Re your effort and expense on the wide arch conversion, I thought you'd be keeping that car a tad longer.

Is it the insurance that's killed the wide arch project?

As others have said, I wouldn't like to guess how much you'd be charged to insure a Mk5 GTI at 18yo (assuming you can find an insurer even willing). Not fair in your case as a responsible driver no doubt, but it's the hard reality.

broadly the same , depends
a) if you want to further tweak / modify and maximise your settings (REVO) or just leave it to the tuner (APR)
b) switchable via cruise control(APR) or using select switch (REVO)

nearest tuner if you have an issue , etc
if you check out my APR REVIEW there are some useful points at the start.......

you wont go wrong with either

I dont think he is using his own insurance policy. The issue with the wide arch conversion was the insurance was through some kind of fleet policy, and the mods were too much. At least, thats as much as i have read into the situation.

Certainly would never ever get his own insurance policy on a remapped GTI at 18.

Both equally good products..APR/Revo. Both will give very similar results.

APR is handy if you have cruise control for switching maps.

They will certainly transform your GTI.

Both the guys at Revo and APR/Awesome are very helpful.

Superchips is also another to consider too.

As Hurdy says a GTI at 18 !!!!!!!! fair play to you if you can afford it but not if it means heaps of debt & stupied insurance. Learn to walk before you run.
