Be careful what you wish for is my line,I had a job in Electrical engineering and fancied a change worked for 20 yrs doing the same $hit and thought im now 40 and there is now way I can do 25 more years of this , I have tried other things and now think it wasnt that bad and would go back to working in engineering after a 8 yr break.

If you lost your job through redundancy etc ,I would say it is a opportunity to try something different ,My brother  was laid off last week and is having a couple of well deserved holidays  and 8 weeks R+R then going to look for something but he said just looking around he wont earn anything like what he has before so maybe time to change , He works in water treatment for  water companies and large swimming pools etc like the olympic pools in london and said things have got really tight .

Good luck what ever you decide
