Hello all! New MK5 GTi owner
« on: April 13, 2013, 07:45:00 pm »
Hi all,

I've just put a deposit down on this;

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201304106204973/sort/default/usedcars/engine-size-cars/2l_to_2-5l/price-to/7000/price-from/5000/model/golf/make/volkswagen/onesearchad/used/onesearchad/nearlynew/onesearchad/new/page/1/keywords/gti/

It drives well (I've driven a new one when they first came out so have an idea of what they should feel like) so I'm hoping that it shouldn't be too costly in maintenance.  Is there anything I should be watching out for at this age/mileage (06 plate, 80000 miles)?

What do you folks think?

Cheers,

Adam

Cheers phil- it's always good to hear others' thoughts. I'm new to VW ownership but have had an A4 in the past so I'm not totally alien to VAG.  :smiley:

Cheers Murphdog- I'm guessing your GTi is red then!  :-)

I'm thinking that I'll search aroundon here a bit for general maintenance items to keep the car top notch- think that this forum could be invaluable.

Not seen one with red stitching before - looks good. Is that original, or has it been retrimmed?

I really don't know- can't say as I'd ever seen red stitching before either. Could be you're right?

That looks like a nice clean example.  :happy2:

You may want to change the Autotrader link to one without your own postcode though as some scrotes will know that that nice GTi is soon to be at that address.  :wink:

Adam

I've seen a couple of pictures of re-stitched leather seats done in red with red GTI emblems. I guess they are custom re-stitched.

D'oh-hadn't even realised the postcode was included- thanks for drawing my attention- I've modded the link (hopefully it still works, although it won't be live much longer I guess.
