Ed30 -> s-max 240 am I kidding myself ?
« on: April 16, 2013, 08:07:04 pm »
Given the increase in family I'm looking at a bigger car. Anyone tried the 240 bhp S-max ? Or should I admit it's an MPV and get a 140 bhp diesel ?

Is that the 2.5T from the old ST, or the new 2.0T from the, err, new ST?  Both would be outragous on fuel no doubt... I'd prefer the disliked X3 but with the 3.0SD engine, iirc it's the engine from the 335/535d so 280+BHP 400lb/ft+.... easy 350hp+ tuned. :surprised:

The x3 35d is pretty poor on fuel, the s max is supposed to be a really good car for what it is.

It's the new ST engine with rumours of 30 mpg. I want 3 seats across the back which leaves s max or the sharan/Alhambra

I've got a diesel s max having sold the golf a year ago & haven't really looked back. I test drove the 2.2 petrol but as mpg was a priority it wasn't an option. I've got a bluefin map on mine and its actually surprisingly quick with a rolling start, and a slope, and a tail wind  :laugh:
GTI going...

We run a few 140BHP Smax's on our fleet.  They are great allround vehicles, all I would do is buy a diesel and map it, I certainly wouldn't waste my money on a petrol engined one, its not a sports car.  The diesel engine really suits it
