I can definitely tell the difference between 95 and 99, feels much more zippy with vPower. S2 K03.
Does no one else think there's a difference?

There are countless threads about this, and people will always argue. However, yes there is a difference. The Gti is designed to run on super unleaded to be able achieve it's full potential. VW state super as the fuel to use. The difference the driver will feel is minimal, but it can be noticed. For your extra money you are also getting extra cleaning additives etc. that regular unleaded doesn't contain.

The early GTI's state 98ron on the fuel flap, the later GTI's state 95 ron. Not sure about the ED30 and Pirelli versions.

I have an 07 plate GTI. It states 95ron on the fuel flap and in the manual it states there will be no performance or fuel economy difference using a higher ron.

Maybe there would be a difference on the earlier models?

It's just what the manual states. If a test was done on the mk5 GTI early and late we would find out.

Results for Higher Octane fuels improving power are well documented on Dynos. As for improving fuel economy it's debatable.

I read that Lean burn/Stratified mode has never been utilised in the TFSI engine...not sure if this is accurate but I would be interested in the reason for it not running in Stratified mode.

I can remember reading an early mk5 GTI review which says if you're buying second hand, watch out for cylinder head problems caused by running 95 RON

Anyhoo, I run my 2008 on Momentum or V-Power (when available) as it's stage 1. Fuel cap states 'recommended super-unleaded' or something to that effect.

Mate of mine put some of the nitro shell stuff in his RS4......and I hopped in to see the results. A fair increase in performance and responsivenes. A lot more than what we were expecting that's for sure. Don't know if we'll see an increase in mileage but the RS4 isn't exactly built for economical driving! :p

Yeah, I've heard various reports about head gasket problems on gti's that have used 95 Ron long term.

Can someone tell me, will I get more miles per gallon in value buying 95ron to any other higher Ron fuel?
Cars stage 2 mapped on 99 but I started running on 95 to get more fuel for the money as dont use the power much.

Any difference "noticed" by using V Power Nitro over regular V Power is purely placebo affect and nothing else

Even on 99 ron vs 101 ron which this nitro stuff apparently is?

My local shell has it 3p cheaper than v power atm, so that's being bought!
