I'm really intruiged mate, I love exploring and looking round these places, I can start with these places I know that you've found, do you need special permission to go there, or do you sort of break in? Or are they just open access but forgotten about and abandoned? And finally is there a database or something where I can look for places like this in my local area?

Love the photos

Thanks mate... I generally just trawl Google maps looking for stuff, living in the Midlands most stuff is within reach.  There's quite a few websites which are good for a heads up on locations too, local authority listed buildings sites and stuff like that.

Never break into anywhere, providing you cause no damage and take nothing there's no offense as trespass is a civil matter in the UK, worse that can happen is your asked to leave.  As soon as you damage or take anything it becomes a criminal matter so steer well clear of that, don't even carry anything that could be considered going equipped... all I take is camera and a torch.  There's almost always an open access of some sort, usually involves climbing or going down into a cellar lol.. but that's all part of the fun.

You will be amazed how many places exist within a few miles of you once you start looking :D

Done quite a few places lately, theres a few snaps here but the full sets are on my homepage jobby www.urbecks.com last Sunday I went and did the old Lancaster County Lunatic Asylum below,

Then stopped off at a lovely old pottery

Why are surgical lights in a mental asylum :scared:  Bet they are worth big bucks, probably £10k+ new.

Apparently the theatre was sealed in the 40's... from the good old days when people with mental illness were 'fixed' by brain surgery  :scared:

More awesome shots.
Me and my friend from work are going to go to a few places over Bristol way when we can both get a spare weekend.
One is one of the hospitals, I think you went to it, and the other is an old abandoned train tunnel or something along those lines..  :rolleye: :jumpmove:

Lovely shots.

There's a really cool place near me on the border of fleet and farnborough called pyestock. Sadly there in the process of demolition at the moment to make way for a Tesco distribution centre

Anyone interested in engineering/ aircraft would love it, google pyestock and see the dailymail's recent write up about it, there's some cracking shots of all the testing equipment.
