Team Dynamic wheels questions...help!!
« on: July 31, 2009, 06:53:41 am »
Hey,

As some of you may know I have recently purchased some Pro Race 1.2's from a member on the forum. They are 18".

Got a few questions.....

1.) What is the 'J' of the wheel?

2.) What is the ET of the wheel?

3. If the above is different to my Monza II's then what does this mean?

4.) I'm getting them fitted tomorrow, will I need an allignment/anything special done?

I'm transferring my tyres from my Monzas.

Much appreciated guys  :happy2:

Chris.

Ok thanks for the J and ET number Mat. How do these compare with the Monza II's?

The alloy is slightly wider than the monza, but will still go with 225 or 235 tyres. They will be a straight swap over mate, they will stick out a little further than the monzas as the offset is lower :happy2:

You'l also probably feel that the handling is slightly sharper and the ride is better. This is due to the reduction in weight over the Monza's (about 3.5kg per wheel)

Chris,

The Monza's are 7.5J (7.5 inch wide basically) with ET 51mm I believe...not really had a close look mind you.

The Pro Race 1.2's will be 8J so half inch wider (about 12.5mm) and that is why you need a lower ET (pushing wheel outwards) to compensate for the wheel being wider. If it was same ET as Monza's at 51mm, the wider rim would prolly foul some components on the inside of the wheel arch, or sit too close to the suspension strut etc.

Look forward to seeimg them on your car tho.  :happy2:

Another one to join the TD club.  Liking it Chris and great choice for not only looks but also performance too. What colour, black I hope?
I know when I first got them on mine I was a bit worried as to how well they would suit the Mk5 as I had not seen another with them on at that point. But just goes to show that it was the right choice to make.
