Bit of a bonus, the private plate that came free on my car is worth 1000 pounds to me if Reg Transfers sell it. They are marketing it at £1395, so will take £395 commission.

Does anyone have experience of selling a plate through them? If so, are they any good? Or alternatively can someone recommend a better way of selling it? Is there a company that will just buy it out right?

This'll be a nice little start to the ED30 Fund!!

Reg Transfers are the largest Company in the country advertising cost them  thousands a week and need to make plenty to keep them on top. They also are major bidders at DVLA auction buying up loads of plates .
It is the company i would use if i wanted to sell a Plate.
They do advertise their plates at higher prices than others too and hence offer sellers the best price .
Selling privately is fraught with danger due to having to send off your V5/MOT etc to transfer it and the payment issue is always a problem unless you meet up at the local VRO .

I have been trying to get a RG or RJG plate for several years but everyone wants too much money

The sale price for your plate is spot on and if sold there is VAT to pay i think

If you are considering to sell I would be inclined to to put the plate back onto the retention certificate as it takes a few weeks and then would make less faffing about if and when you did decide to sell

Reg Transfers are a good company to deal with. I bought one from them and have also sold one to them, both times I've found them a ok to deal with.

£1000 is a right result, say thank you and take the money.

It is just a marketing ploy to get your business, it is just a normal 6 digit plate probably worth 5 hundred tops more likely £250 - £300 all you have to do is look at the prices of similar plates.
Happy to eat my words though.

Yep they are good. Bought my private plate from them a few years ago and didnt have an issue and they were pretty prompt with it all.

Not sold anything through them though but if the buying experience was anything to go by Id say its worth it  :happy2:

As above, bought my plate 4 maybe 5 years ago, seemed very good service. I used there make an offer and it was accepted, about £500 under the asking price.

Not sold anything through them. My friend has used them a few times to buy plates related to his business and spoke highly of them.

I have looked at other similar plates and they are on for between 1000 and 1500. Whatever I get though is a bonus, as it's basically free money Top Cat. We'll have to wait and see. I'm gonna go for it, nothing to lose!

OJI 499

That's a Northern Irish plate. Makes me laugh how much these 'normal to me' plates seem to be worth to people on the mainland.

I remember years ago where I lived an old woman had a metallic green Austin Metro with the numberplate "HIB 1". I wonder what that one would be worth...
