All garage sales have a 3 month warranty i believe, i got 12 from VW, should be changed by them if it went in such a short space of time!

If he got it from some random garage your going to have a hard time telling them a wear and tear item is included in the warranty

I sat in VW until the Warranty manager came to talk to me and i asked if it was a wear and tear replaceable item can he show me how to replace the bulb. After finding out VW's official route is to remove the spoiler, he covered it under warranty.

I went through a big arguement with vw about it saying the exact same thing as you and all they had to say was pay us the £70 odd pounds to book the car in and we will see!

So wasnt happy at all and just left it was faulty when i bought it just didnt realise and i proved it from a previous mot before vw brought it into stock!
one day im gunna do it before the next mot

I did mine myself. Just used the break the glass and extract method. £30 for the part and job done.

^^^^

Do it yourself (just be brave when breaking the old unit). I can't imagine it would be cheap from the Stealers!

Here's a guide to fitting the High Level Brake Light.....

~~ Clicky here ~~

Part number for a new light unit is 1K6 945 097F, around £40 IIRC from your local VW Main Dealer or TPS.
