rns510 firmware fail.....
« on: April 26, 2013, 11:34:25 am »
Got a problem with a rns510 c,

i tried updated the firmware to 5218, it failed and wouldn't boot back to the old firmware, so i used a fix .iso image found on http://gpsunderground.com/ but now it boots but is not usable

now i am trying to get any firmware back on to make it usable (1100/3810) but the unit complains about invalid clamp state

i have read i need to change the time on my dash from 24hr to 12 but i dont have highline clocks just the standard so i cant change the time format.

Any ideas what to do?

Oh gosh! that looks bad.

It could be you used a bad quality DVD. not burnt properly, faulty ISO file or your dvd drive doesnt like the disc you used.

invalid clamp state normally means you have the key in the ignition.

Take the key out, and try again.

Thanks for the quick reply mate. I ran the fix.iso again then burnt 1010 to a cd and it seems to be updating. What's the highest / safest firmware to go on a "c" model ?

Doesnt really matter what fw you go onto. I personally prefer 3800 fw. I found the maps were slighly slower on mine when i had 4120. But im on a B unit. Could be different on yours.

Try to update in sequences, 1010, 2760, 3800

I'm running 4120 on my rev c unit. It works fine and I haven't noticed any slower response from the maps, but I'm only on v7 maps.
2012 Mk6 GTD. Tornado Red. TPMS, RNS510 and reverse camera retrofit.
